
Kaya Alexa Mendoza is a graduating student studying Music Education at the University of the Philippines Diliman. In 2021, she graduated with top honors from the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) as a violin performance major, and is a recipient of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Scholarship. Kaya is the current concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) and is an active member of performing groups, Musika Sophia and Cuerdas Comparsa. As an orchestra musician, she has had the opportunity to perform with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, UP Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Chino Toledo, and the Filharmonika Orchestra under Maestro Gerard Salonga.
As an educator, Kaya has co-facilitated workshops in music appreciation and children’s rights. She was part of the recent projects of the UP Junior Music Educators’ Guild titled Saliw Bulilit: Isang Koleksyon ng mga Makabagong Awiting Pambata and Linangang Tinig: Pagpapaunlad ng Awitan sa Loob ng Silid-Aralan which won the Ignacio B. Gimenez Award for UP Student Organizations’ Social Innovation Projects in 2024 and 2025, respectively. She was also part of the group that presented these projects during the National Social Science Congress 2025 held in Baguio City.
